Conclave

Deathly startled by whom who may ride

This evening’s curses

Caresses subtle shore

My mind connects Hawaii via driven orphan trains
For some reason
Beneath Cartographer bones

A prairie
skewed us in dust
dry glasses in route

To rob

Farmers
Without ammunition
Of half truths

who hitched rides to Hawaii
in the hot air balloon morning

before the Japanese could even conceive a sneak attack

sweet Everett swam ashore

so I could be born

avoided search lights and family

as his mother did too
